The Start

Installing the Sinpo scales is not a very complex project - but does require very careful placement and alignment.  First the mill has to be pretty much stripped down to get access to the back of table and the side of the saddle.  Also - having the LMS air-spring conversion is almost a prerequisite for installing the Z-axis scale.  The threaded hole left in the column after the removal of the spring-lift is also the perfect (M6x1) tie point for the read-head. Below are pix of the mill at the start of the install.

Table Removed

The table has been removed in preps to do the Y-axis. Then Z-axis will follow, with X mounted on the table last.

This view shows the column and holes where former torsion spring lift was mounted.

Ready to remove Y-Axis lead screw

The Y-Axis lead screw is removed so the saddle can be slid freely back and forth. This will allow correct centering & mounting of the read-head.
