First Machine Table

My initial plan was to start with a 'X2' mini mill - often seen at the Harbor Freight store.  I found a rather deluxe version at the Little Machine Shop and began to plan a table/workbench to place it.  This was the next step after all the photo stuff was cleared out - printer sold, table it sat on sold (all to help raise funds for the project!).

As time went by, I discovered the table-space as seen here would be far better to house a lathe, and that I DID have the space to put in yet another table in for the mill.

I didn't document the actual construction of the first table. Resin-based legs from 2x4Basics were used.  Very sturdy and more than adequate for the job.  I do think they may need to be tied to the wall for extra rigidity.

Completed Lathe Table

The first table completed, and slid home.  3/4" MDF was used for the shelves, and finished with Watco Danish Oil as it can be easily refinished years later.  The MDF added weight and stability to the table.

You can see here why the half-wall was needed to keep the machine world out of the computer world!
